How to Install Pacifist for iPod Download

Are you tired of struggling with installing your Pacifist software onto your RAID volume? I certainly was, until I discovered a better way to do it. In this article, I'll share my installation method, which involves using the Hackinstaller script and Chimera boot loader.

The key to success lies in understanding how the bootloader files are applied to the small boot partitions of each RAID slice or disk. This process is made easier by digital_dreamer's script, which can automatically detect RAID volumes when installing a bootloader. However, since dd's script doesn't come preloaded with Chimera bootloader, I had to manually extract the i386 folder from the standalone Chimera boot loader and place it in the ~extra/bootloaders folder for the Hackinstaller script.

To overcome this limitation, I used digital_dreamer's 10.6 Hackinstaller script to install the Chimera boot loader onto each of my RAID 0 slices. This allowed me to install Chimera i386 boot files onto the small partitions in the various 'slices' or 'disks' of the RAID volume.

My method worked brilliantly for setting up my RAID volume as a bootable disk with an ATI 6870 graphics card on my GA-EX58-UD5 board. With some luck and kext investigation, this technique may also work for you.

In the past, I always needed to use an iBoot CD or another hard drive to boot into Snow Leopard. This was primarily because I was installing it onto a RAID volume, which couldn't be made bootable on its own due to the Chimera package and Andy's package not installing to the physical drives.

I also had issues installing my Sapphire ATI 6870 with the Chimera bootloader and Andy's posted bootloader. However, I eventually solved the boot issue using this method.
